"THE TRUTH IS... Taking Another Look at Prophecy As I watch the Middle East scramblings of nations and leaders, all of them rushing to their lineup for the end-times, though they may not be aware it is the end-times, and as I listen to the rhetoric of the players and the threatenings of the cowards, I realize how little time the world has left before Syria and Lebanon fires death and destruction upon Israeli cities. We know as well, beyond any shadow of doubt, that when that happens, Damascus will be a city no more... Isaiah 7 declares it and Isaiah 17:1 declares it plainly. Jeremmiah 49 and the last chapters of Zechariah support the prophesied doom for Damascus and its bosom buddy, the Hamas headquarters in the inherited territories of Ephraim (Samaria - part of the West Bank). You can read these references for yourself and when you do, study each word carefully, do not read into it more than what it says, and do not interpret according to what you "think" it says, but what it really says... I used to believe the God of Israel would help Israel destroy these armies. I was wrong. I have studied carefully those Words I have read for years, and today I believe Israel will be devastated in that first attack, and that it will be God Himself who will destroy Damascus, Hamas in Ephraim, and the army Syria leads against Israel. I believe Iran will be shocked beyond words, and the world will be so overwhelmed with surprise and outrage there will be silence for a time. When they find their tongues, there will be utter blame for Israel but it will be a cautious fingerpointing because of the devastation they have witnessed. Isaiah 17:1: "The prophecy against Damascus, Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap." In Verse 3: "The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel," saith the Lord of hosts. The Lord is saying here that the coalition between Syria and Ephraim will be shattered and both will become ruins, that the remnant of Syria will resemble the fallen glory of the children of Israel as they were led into captivity by the Assyrians. Afterward there will be famine in Israel and much devastation with grief and desperate sorrow. Then, in Isaiah 17: 12-14 the Lord speaks forth the rest of the prophecy againt Syria: "WOE (God's warning of certain doom) to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations (an invading army), that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters! The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters; but GOD SHALL REBUKE THEM - NOTICE - GOD SHALL REBUKE THEM, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind. And behold at eveningtide trouble; and before the morning he is no more. This is the portion of them that plunder us, and the lot of them that rob us." God makes it very clear that this will be an invasion at evening time but as they cross the mountains of Israel, God Himself will rebuke them, possibly with a sudden and mighty storm with hail and with a powerful whirlwind, unlike any storm they have ever seen. They will flee but the storm will chase them and overcome them for they will not be able to stand before the storm. They will be like chaff blown by the wind, like a rolling tumbleweed before the whirlwind. Nowhere does it say Israel will engage the fight - it does refer to a devastated Israel, caught off guard, who may not be able to retaliate. So, it is God, not Israel, that will destroy Damascus. In Jeremiah 49:23-27, the oracle concerning Damascus in the last days, God tells us clearly in verse 27 that HE HIMSELF will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Ben-hadad." He may do this with lightening, He may do this with nuclear retaliation from Israel, or He may do this supernaturally as He did with Sodom. He does not say how He will kindle the fire, only that He will do it. God will never again turn His back on Israel or the Israeli people, whereever they are. He is their fortress, their avenger, and their strength in warfare. He rises up for them, and He sits down and watches over them when it is over. I refer to the wars since 1948 including the 6-day war, the attacks of 1973, and the threatenings of today. God sits on His mountain, His name is on it, and he watches over the affairs of Israel as He waits for the people to return to Him, to embrace Him at last and forever and ever... It will happen...just as it is written... Joan Krempel 2-25-10 joan@joankrempelministries.com
