Bonnie Payne recently commented that this nation must grieve before it can repent, recover and be restored to its original moral and spiritual levels of naked truths. I agree with her... Grieve for what? Can we put America in a coffin and stand by her open grave and grieve for the same things - or will we be divided in our grief as we are divided in our views of the First Amendment? Will we all grieve? And for what will we grieve? New statistics show that 57% of Evangelical Americans believe one can come unto God and into Heaven through various channels, other than through Jesus Christ alone. Horrors!!! It is shocking that the United States of America should lanquish to such a degree in the decline of her spiritual health. It is earth-shattering that the nation that took the Gospel to the world has herself retreated to the bush country of paganism and ignorance. These 57% are in for some rude awakenings unless they see and acknowledge the deception they have swallowed and seek the truth before it is too late. The generation of today, the 20-years-of-age and older group, will be the leaders of tomorrow, yet these young students and career builders have never heard the truth - shocking isn't it? But the schools they attended taught them perverted half truths - out-and-out lies - which they presented as truths. These half truths undermined America's glory, her history of greatness, natural parental authority, the beautiful story of our beginnings in Genesis and the encouragement of individual American patriotism. And their parents, the baby-boomers - were too busy seeking prosperity to notice what their children were being taught. The baby boomers themselves were taught half truths, more lies than even half-truths, and their parents, my own generation, did not do all we could to provide them with solid foundations. Although we find more truth than half-baked lies in the baby boomers, we do not see the instruction that could fill and prepare their children to discern the truths imbedded in the current moral and ethical issues of their day. It was my own generation that allowed an atheist to petition the Supreme Court to have prayer removed from our schools. We laughed at her, never once believing she could win this debate. We were wrong. Yet, we still took it for granted that our children would grow up in the faith of their fathers if we took them to Sunday School and Church, and taught them these truths in the home. We didn't teach them enough - we didn't monitor their relationships with others as we should have, and we didn't sit down and talk with them often enough to know what was ticking deep inside them. We failed them in these things...and we failed future generations as well as our Lord... We cannot, and should never, assume anything... It was the baby-boomer generation that allowed the schools to advance their perverted teachings concerning our sacred beginnings and our Godly forefathers who founded this nation. Americans have a rich heritage that should be the pride and treasure of every American but alas, our children are taught they can burn the American Flag without punishment. They do not have to obey their parents. There are no absolutes, anything is allowed and right if it feels good. Half-truths, out-and-out lies. Perversions. The frustrations and destructions of young minds and even young lives. The parents are too busy to get involved in what their schools are teaching and still they wonder how the students have become sexual advertisements and pill-poppers. The baby-boomers failed the generation that followed them and these are the generation preparing for the halls of Congress today. You bet we should grieve... And we have so much more to grieve about - the Church has failed as well, and continues to fail, over and over and over again, liberal pastors jumping from one half-truth to another, always looking for a gimmick or a plan to fill their halls with the ever increasing jean-clad, Starbucks crowd that comes to learn how to feel good. The one constant truth and hope we have is the Word of God. It can never change, it can never fail, it can never be diminished to hide sin or the guilt of sin for the guilty shall stand before God as surely as the saint will stand for the judgment of their deeds. One may think he can get away with changing the times and the seasons, the words of warning, and the watered-down sermons that glorify men rather than God, that lift up mortals rather than Jesus Christ, and that tolerate sins of abomination that God has already condemned. These Words of the Most High are just that - Words of the MOST HIGH - and they cannot and will never be changed to suit your purpose or mine without we suffer an eternal grief in the confines of an eternal hell. Yes - we need to grieve for ourselves, for our families, and our country. We need to grieve for the lost, those ignorant of the Scriptures and the ways of the Holy Spirit. We need to grieve for the children we have lost and will continue to lose in this runaway feverish jungle of confused souls, the offspring of spiritually lazy generations. And we need to grieve for our Lord who sees it all...and weeps... To retake America will require the retaking of the truth and sharing it with all who have ears to hear. To retake America and its flailing generations we must humble ourselves before God, and repent of our spiritual laziness and laxity in caring enough for the souls of our children to give them the best that God gave to us in the days of Truth in America. If we can see ourselves as He sees us today, if we can see our children outside the loop of the saints, if we can see America falling deeper and deeper into the pit of no return, we will fall on our knees and we will weep and repent, and we will turn the heart of God toward our needs as a people and a nation. Only then can America and her people arise from the ashes of the deceiver's fiery lies and reclaim America as "One nation under God"... Joan KrempelJuly 17, 2008 joan@joankrempelministries.com
